I discovered the game of Diplomacy at college and found it fascinating. A game where you can lie and cheat and manipulate people and all good clean fun.

I played many games in a short postal diplomacy career then started a fanzine called Bruce which reached 100 issues (anyone still got any copies left?)

I helped organise Midcon through the 80's but my interest tailed off when the kids arrived.

Later in life I discovered Diplomacy had migrated to email so I started playing again. I helped develop the Diplomacy 2000 site and ran the stats section for a while.

Still love the game. Richard Sharp (RIP) used the chaucerian phrase "The smyler with the knyfe under the cloke" to describe the ethos of the game and that sums it up perfectly.
